Google are in the process of making changes to the manner in which they index pages and you can take a look – http://www2.sandbox.google.com. After a little investigation speed seems to be its main asset.
A simple search for “the history of the Internet” returns search results in 0.21 seconds – that is a massive 0.16 seconds quicker than the current way of doing things!
It was also noted that the page listings differed between the two systems so keep an eye on it and be ready for the change!
