Save9 gets the 'royal seal of approval'
The five-screen Apollo West End, the first London cinema to be built in 20 years, cost a jaw-dropping £3m, is the first of a chain that Save9 have been asked to install their futuristic movie trailer software. The quality is high, thanks to the efforts of the team at Save9 Limited.
Apollo Cinemas appointed Save9 to develop a new digital signage and interactive touch-screen service that could be updated over the Internet. The client wanted to reduce the time it took to update promotional media, and were looking to encourage repeat visits and to drive extra concessions sales. "Imagine being able to preview a selection of film trailers in a cinema lobby by simply touching a plasma screen! We've turned that idea into reality, based on Internet technology", says Jason Hayhurst, director at Save9.
"The team at Save9 receive movie trailers from Pearl & Dean and Hollywood studios, digitise them and deliver them high-speed over the Internet in order to create a fully-interactive experience at each cinema", says Steve Bromham, director at Save9.

Movie trailers and digital posters housed in ultra-sleek Plasma screens located in each cinema lobby makes it feel more like you are checking in to a designer hotel than picking up tickets for a night at the pictures. Apollo Cinemas initially thought of using low-tech paper posters and a bigger seating capacity, but they decided there was room in the market for a quality experience - to be the cinema where the real aficionado will experience movies, not just watch them.
The launch of the Apollo West End came at a time when Britain's mainstream cinemas were going through the most dramatic consolidation in the industry's history. Save9's role is to introduce cutting-edge technology into this market, and to enhance and deliver changing information instantly.
